Low Fat, High Taste Tortilla Chips

LOW FAT, HIGH TASTE TORTILLA CHIPS

Homemade tortilla chips

Do you love the taste, flavor and texture of tortilla chips? Well, so do we! These are so easy to make, and they are guiltless as well. Enjoy them with salsa,  your favorite hummus, or by themselves. Be creative. Possibilities are endless. I keep them simple with just salt and pepper so I can use them with various dips without unpleasant flavor contrasts.

INGREDIENTS:

1. 1 Package of 8″ tortilla wraps (10 in a package)

2. I can of olive oil cooking spray

3. Salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

1. Pre-heat oven or toaster oven to 350 degrees

2. Spray tortillas one at a time, with non-stick cooking spray adding salt and pepper to each wrap.

3. Stack tortillas on top of each other as you go. You will be building a tower of the wraps.

4. Cut stack of wraps into 8 even slices

5. Spread slices evenly on cookie sheets, being sure not to overlap them

6. Bake about 10 minutes, until chips are just starting to turn brown. They will still be slightly soft, but will harden as they cool. If after they are cooled, they are not crisp enough, simply put them back in the oven for a couple of minutes.

7. Let cool completely before putting into sealed container for freshness

8. Serve

NUTRITION:

I use the Great Value brand of tortillas, found at Wal-Mart. This is the nutritional analysis using them. If you choose a different brand, the counts will change. I added 2g. of fat to the fat to the basic fat count, due to the cooking spray used.
