Back on Track in 2016 Hello, Fitness Enthusiast! By now, you are done with the holiday eating frenzy that some of you may have gone through. You may have some regrets about what entered your mouth over the past month or two, but there's hope and there's a solution: just think before you eat the very next bite of food. Part of life is forgiveness, and part of life is falling off track sometimes. We can easily forgive other people, but why can't we forgive ourselves? If we learn to do that in 2016, the rest of our lives will be that much easie [ + ]

HOLIDAY THOUGHTS Our daughter, grandson,. and us! Happy Holidays to All of You! This holiday season, we have been emotionally charged. We feel so blessed to have such a beautiful family. We not only have a family in America, but we also have a family in Brazil. Through the magic of Skype, we have been able to say connected and we are able to actually see each other even when we can't be with each other physically. For those of you who do not have Skype, we encourage you to get it and use it the same way we do: To stay as close as possible to lo [ + ]

Why I Love Halloween

Why I love Halloween What do you call a witch that lives on the beach? A SAND-WITCH! Halloween 2015 is just around the corner, so I thought I would share with you why I love Halloween. When I was a small child, I remember my mother making costumes. I was a princess, or whatever my whim of the year was. When I put the costume on, I was magically transformed into whatever character I was portraying. coming home with a plastic pumpkin filled with candy was the icing on the cake. (I should note that in those days, it was relatively safe for kids to [ + ]

Just be Honest Don't worry. I have not turned into some preaching lunatic. I just want to discuss honesty as it relates to your fitness regimen and hiring a personal trainer. For well over a year now, we have been getting "leads" from a reputable website, designed to match peoples' needs to local business who can meet them. The concept is wonderful for both parties. We do not make random phone calls or leave random e-mails; We answer specific requests for personal trainers. The people receiving the information actually WANT to hear from us. In [ + ]

Back to School Hello, Parents and Children! It's that time of year again, and school is now in session, or will be in the near future. What does that mean to your fitness routine, and the routine of your children? More often than not, schools have a gym period. When I went to school, we had specific activities per school term. I always looked forward to the gymnastics, as I had always dreamed of flipping across some floor. It was only a dream, but it was fun to pretend, if only for a small amount of time. When I got home, I would practice the [ + ]

Pickleball Mania

Pickleball Mania This is a great sport to play. It requires only some space, the actual Pickleball paddles, and some Pickleball balls. A net is optional, though I usually play on a tennis court. I am a tennis player. I have been for the majority of my life, and have played on several teams, including collegiate tennis teams. I have been teaching tennis since I was 14 (I am nearly 50 now), and while I still enjoy the game, I am always excited to try out a new racket sport.   One of my clients showed up one day with a Pickleball set. Sweltering Heat There's no doubt about it. Depending on where you are in the world, you may be in the midst of sweltering summer heat. While we can't control the temperature, we can control our own body heat to some degree. In South Florida, we have some options. We can stay inside all day (not a great option), we can take several cool showers per day (better option), we can dress in layers that are easily added or removed (great idea), and we can stay well hydrated to avoid dehydration (now THAT'S an idea!). Add Some Play into your Day

Add Some Play into your Day I remember when I was a child, going to the neighbor's house, and asking if the kids could "come out and play". For hours, we would run around, throw balls, kick balls, swing on the swing set, jump in leaf piles, make snow angels, play tag and laugh until we couldn't breathe anymore. By the time we had to go home, we were dirty, sweaty, out of breath sometimes, and smiling from ear to ear. While I am not implying that as adults we can maintain that level of play, we could stand to go back in time a little and add some pl [ + ]

Beware of Bedazzled Bananas

Beware of Bedazzled Bananas Appearances are sometimes deceiving. This is a fact that most of us are well aware of. I am amazed, however, at the amount of clients who approach me with certain "diamond bananas" (aka diets) that they read about or heard about on television that are nothing more than a rotten banana with bedazzling. Here are some of the latest that I have been approached with: 1. The yellow mustard diet 2. The Swiss cheese diet 3. The cookie diet 4. The pudding diet 5. The pork only diet Need I go on? Let's face it. If main [ + ]
