WARNING FOR FITNESS PROFESSIONALS: SCAM

WARNING FOR FITNESS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS

Internet Scam picture

Hello, Professionals.

We have been the object of attempted scams recently, and we wanted to share the information with you so you do not end up losing a significant amount of hard-earned money. Here’s what’s happening:

We are getting requests from “hearing impaired” people who are requesting training for their family. The “hearing impaired” individual is always from another country, and they are willing to pay whatever fee we say via check, money order or credit card. Additionally, they say that the family members (always a group of women) will be arriving to us via public transportation.

While we cannot prove that these requests are phony, we had an experience with one of them several years back. Suffice it to say, it ended in us losing the money the people paid us two times over. For legal purposes, I have chosen not to copy and paste the text and e-ail requests we are getting recently, but the advice we have for you is to reply to the requests: “This requests is being forwarded to the proper authorities”. Needless to say, that is ALWAYS the end of the communication.

At Focus and Form Fitness, we are committed not only to our own business, but to preserving the integrity of the industry as a whole. We hope that when you read this, you will forward it to anyone you know who may be negatively affected by such a scam.

Yours in Fitness,

Shereen and Pedro Rios
