Happy Father's Day Happy Father's Day to you all. As we get older, there are fewer and fewer "men" in our lives who remain alive to celebrate with. For that reason, I encourage all of you to get some sort of memorial candle that you only light at these times of the year. I don't mean a religious candle, but something that is attractive that will make you smile as you fondly remember your loved one. We use a candle holder that was given to Pedro after his Dad passed away. It holds tea lights and has a lovely saying on it. Somehow, lighting it is soot [ + ]

Saying Goodbye   Hello, Friends. Recently, Pedro and I went to Brazil. This trip, however, was not simply to visit family, but to say goodbye to my beloved father-in-law. He lived a long fulfilling life and died comfortably, knowing that he did the very best he could do as a father, husband, doctor, and person. We are all truly blessed to have known him. The purpose of this is not to make you sad, but more to make you think. If you read my blogs, you know that a few months back Pedro and I went to Brazil for Christmas and to bring in the [ + ]

Family First   Recently, Pedro and I took a trip to Tennessee. We had several purposes for our visit: My birthday, Thanksgiving with my immediate family, and for the last leg of the trip we flew to another part of Tennessee to visit our daughter and grandson. All of this was done in seven days. I'm tired just reading what we did! While we were at the Thanksgiving table, my dad asked me what my dreams and hopes and plans were for the coming year. I guess he was tired of the traditional "What are you thankful for" question, followed by the [ + ]

Hurricane Smarts

Hurricane Smarts This was the scene at most South Florida stores yesterday morning. We heard that the threat of a major storm was being discussed and as usual, people went crazy.   I have no objections to people making sure they have enough basic supplies for their families, but the amount of surplus supplies was embarrassing. In fact, sheer gluttony prevented many people from getting bare essentials. By the time I got to the stores (at 11am), there was no water, no canned meats, no canned beans, and basically nothing ready to eat that di [ + ]

Rope Workout Bored with your training? Try a battle rope workout. It engages pretty much every major body part, and is a fun alternative to the regular gym routine. Why did I purchase a rope? I train someone who has some attention issues. Basically, she gets bored easily. Aside from that issue, it is over 100 degrees here on most summer days and our outdoor warm-ups have become grueling for her. I needed some indoor fun activities, so I checked out rope exercises. I hesitated at first because this client is a senior (though in GREAT shape), an [ + ]

Tubshroom I know what you are thinking...."Another product endorsement"? Well, the answer is yes. I am endorsing another product. This one took me by surprise. The issue we were having is a perpetually clogged drain in the shower due to my long hair. Those basket type hair catchers don't work well, and they are really gross to clean. Because our tub is relatively new, we were concerned about permanent damage, so I did some research. What I found was the Tubshroom. I got it on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, this thing really [ + ]

Using the Beach Hi! As summer approaches, you should be thinking about your fitness routine and your commitment level. Do you need a proverbial kick in the tuchas? Now is the time to evaluate your program and make some changes as the hotter months approach. If you have access to a beach, your possibilities are endless. I must say, we are spoiled. We live on the ocean so we are continually inspired. We take walks for fitness, but also to clear our heads. We frequently relax by, swim, and dive in the water.  On nights when there is a full moon ri [ + ]
