Hunkering Down   Pedro and I want to wish all of you who are affected by Irma a safe hurricane. Our hearts still go out to those in Texas, and we are hoping that the devastation from Irma will be a bit more kind.   Be safe, help someone in need, and we will talk with you when all is safe again.   Peacefully, Shereen Rios BAS, CPT for Focus and Form Fitness

Work Hard, Play Hard

Work Hard, Play Hard This has been a crazy, yet productive summer for Pedro and I. Pedro just took a three day re-certification course. It was technologically very advanced, and had a plethora of physiology questions. Let's be honest. This is what makes him so knowledgeable. He is constantly learning and enriching his mind, specifically in our field of fitness training. I'm proud of his continual efforts. Our home improvements are pretty [ + ]

Trying New Things Last week was Mother's Day.  I am not a mother, and Pedro certainly isn't a mother, but we decided to go out to eat anyways. What we found, of course, were over-crowded restaurants. We were hungry, so we decided to go into Downtown Hollywood. I don't think Pedro had a specific idea of where he wanted to eat, but I knew he was getting hungry. We parked the Jeep on a side street, and started walking. What we found were lots [ + ]

Gearing Up for Summer Hi. Pedro and I are so excited that summer is here. I know what you are thinking: "You two live in South Florida. EVERY day is summer". To a degree, you are correct but there is more. In the summer months, our routine changes. We work out a bit earlier, and we make sure to get to the beach for at least an hour or two on the weekends. To say the least, we really take advantage of our surroundings. Recently, I became a [ + ]

It’s a New Car!

It's a New Car! Well, after years of owning multiple sports cars, we have transitioned into the realm of Jeeps. Those of you who know Pedro may be surprised, but he learned over the past year or so that sports cars just like to go fast, and fender benders are very costly in a sports car. Our Wrangler purchase is one of the smartest moves we could have made. Not only does it have increased visibility, but it can't go too fast, and it is very [ + ]

CPR/AED Certification Recently, we attended our CPR/AED certification class. We have to say that this was the best class we have taken. The teacher, Jackie, was professional. She spoke to us on a level that everyone could understand, and rather than barrage us with a bunch of notes, the majority of the time, we practiced technique. For us, this was far more beneficial than certifications of the past, and we will be sure to go back to Jackie [ + ]

Another Year Gone By

Another Year Gone By It is hard to believe that it has been one year since our wedding. So much has changed, and we have so much to feel thankful for. Our families are all healthy and seemingly happy, and though I lost a close friend and client (RIP, Bob T), I gained so much from him when he was alive that I consider myself blessed and fortunate. It is also Pedro's birthday this month, and for a man of 51 years of age he has nothing to compl [ + ]

Summertime Funnertime I already know what you are thinking: "Shereen? Funnertime is not a word". I know, I know. However, it SHOULD be. If you can forgive my grammatical liberties, read on. :) This time of year is so special for Pedro and I for so many reasons. First, South Florida takes a breather as far as traffic and volume of people are concerned. Don't get me wrong, we always look forward to the influx of Northerners. Conversely, it is [ + ]
