Hurricane Smarts

Hurricane Smarts This was the scene at most South Florida stores yesterday morning. We heard that the threat of a major storm was being discussed and as usual, people went crazy.   I have no objections to people making sure they have enough basic supplies for their families, but the amount of surplus supplies was embarrassing. In fact, sheer gluttony prevented many people from getting bare essentials. By the time I got to the stores (at 11am), there was no water, no canned meats, no canned beans, and basically nothing ready to eat that di [ + ]

Rope Workout

Rope Workout Bored with your training? Try a battle rope workout. It engages pretty much every major body part, and is a fun alternative to the regular gym routine. Why did I purchase a rope? I train someone who has some attention issues. Basically, she gets bored easily. Aside from that issue, it is over 100 degrees here on most summer days and our outdoor warm-ups have become grueling for her. I needed some indoor fun activities, so I checked out rope exercises. I hesitated at first because this client is a senior (though in GREAT shape), an [ + ]

Tubshroom I know what you are thinking...."Another product endorsement"? Well, the answer is yes. I am endorsing another product. This one took me by surprise. The issue we were having is a perpetually clogged drain in the shower due to my long hair. Those basket type hair catchers don't work well, and they are really gross to clean. Because our tub is relatively new, we were concerned about permanent damage, so I did some research. What I found was the Tubshroom. I got it on Amazon and decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, this thing really [ + ]

Using the Beach Hi! As summer approaches, you should be thinking about your fitness routine and your commitment level. Do you need a proverbial kick in the tuchas? Now is the time to evaluate your program and make some changes as the hotter months approach. If you have access to a beach, your possibilities are endless. I must say, we are spoiled. We live on the ocean so we are continually inspired. We take walks for fitness, but also to clear our heads. We frequently relax by, swim, and dive in the water.  On nights when there is a full moon ri [ + ]

Fitbit....It's NOT just another gadget! (In MY opinion, of course) I seldom review products, but I sometimes come across an item that warrants praise. This is one of those times. Recently, I found myself a bit unmotivated to get to the gym and move as much as I should. Sure I train my clients, but I was neglecting myself. I decided that I wanted to try a Fitbit, based on the glowing reviews it got from people I personally know and respect. To be totally honest with you, I wasn't prepared to be WOWed. I did my research, and decided that the Charge [ + ]

Miami Seaquarium- BUYER BEWARE! It is not often that I post something negative, but this story has to be told. Recently, our daughter, son-in-law and grandson came to visit us. I decided that for Pedro's holiday gift, I would pay for he and our grandson to have an encounter with the dolphins. For this "encounter", I paid just over $300.00 for both of them. At the time of purchase, which I did on-line, I was given the option of also purchasing observer tickets. The cost of these tickets were $53.00 each. Since there were 3 additional adults [ + ]

Hurricane Matthew First and foremost, our hearts go out to those who suffered Matthew's wrath. Secondly, we feel blessed that we very narrowly escaped any danger, and our families and friends are all safe. That being said, I would like to share with you all a story. The story is of our community and how we are being proactive in regards to safety and protection of our fellow residents. Our community consists of 4 buildings, with over 1300 apartments. What we experienced before, during, and after the hurricane was deplorable. The residents fe [ + ]

Jump Into the Next Fish Bowl!

Jump Into the Next Fish Bowl If you don't like your current routine, and you want different results, why not jump into the next fish bowl? We have all been through this before. We exercise, we eat right, we live a healthier lifestyle, and then something happens. We get bored, we get a bit lazier, we get a bit less motivated, and the next thing we know, we are moving backward instead of forward. My cure for this is simple: Change your routine. Oftentimes, professional athletes have a training cycle. They change up their routines for different r [ + ]
