Kindness is a type of behaviour marked by acts of generosity, consideration, or concern for others, without having an expectation of praise or reward. It is considered a virtue and is recognized as a value in many cultures and religions. (As defined by Wikipedia) The following scene happened this morning: I was training my client in my gym (where I live), and there were 3 other people using the facility. I made a comment to one of the residents that it was nice to see people complying with the face mask order given by our condominium. With tha [ + ]

Be Grateful for Friends and Family What a few months we are going through. In thinking of a topic for today, I was looking through my photo files and came across this one. It instantly made me smile as well as remember our trip to visit friends when that was a thing to safely do. Instead of focusing on what we cannot do right now, let's focus on what we HAVE done as well as what we STILL CAN DO! Time is flying by. Are you going to sit idly by and watch it, or are you going to find a way to be an active participant? I know what I am choosing to d [ + ]

Coronavirus Thoughts

  • Coronavirus, media circus, over-reacting, smart decisions

Coronavirus Thoughts This is a tough subject for me. On the one hand, I am not a classic over-reactor. On the other hand, I don't want to be stupid and pay little attention to something that deems attention. I admit that at first I thought the media circus was overkill and freaking people out unnecessarily. I have predominantly senior clients, and my advice to them was to watch the Cartoon Network for now. However, I have since changed my opinion. When two of my clients decided that they were uncomfortable going to the gym for now, it caught my att [ + ]

Local Business Review....La Hacienda "CART NAZI" It is not often that I take time to review local businesses in this forum, but after the experience I had yesterday, I felt it was needed. Read on! I often shop in La Hacienda. It is seemingly just what the neighborhood needs: Affordable produce and international selections. On a weekly basis I spend about $40.00 in the store, which is baffling even to me, as their prices are really low. I suppose we eat a lot of produce so it makes since on some level, and since I cook daily I SUPPOSE it makes more [ + ]

Saturday Motivation OK. Even I get lazy about my own workouts from time to time so today's motivation is about scheduling your workouts into your day. It doesn't matter if you keep a paper schedule book like I do, or use your phone for your schedule. The important part is to physically add your workouts in. On Superbowl Sunday, I was at a party. Some of the women there were asking me whether or not I still go walking every day. I was honest when I said "no", but I didn't add that I rarely actually went out for my walks anymore. So.....What to do? [ + ]

Happy Valentine's Day!   Make sure you tell the people you love just that. This has been a rough week for me. Two people I know died, I helped my friend move, I was the first one to the aid of someone who fell badly last night, and...well...I think that's enough drama for one week (and it's not over yet). Last night really affected me. As I was sitting on the blood filled floor, consoling this woman who had fallen badly (she is OK), it occurred to me once again how precious and special life is. Whether or not you celebrate this day as [ + ]

Saying Goodbye

  • Feb112020

Saying Goodbye I'm breaking tradition today to say goodbye to a friend of mine who I learned yesterday died. I was not really close to him, but had known him for years and we lived in the same building. You may be wondering why I am writing about someone I was not really close to: Read on. While I was waiting for the elevator, I met a woman. She knew me but I had never seen her before. It turned out she was my friend (let's call him Sam)'s sister. She let me know that Sam had died. I was shocked, but what really shocked me was her reaction to her b [ + ]
